A stylish framed calligraphy print with your child’s name, age or a special saying for them as a centre piece on the food table would look fabulous. Foodie Parties
I love getting creative with ideas and I could brainstorm my little heart out on this one. With foodie shows like Masterchef and MKR so popular kids are getting more into cooking. Instagram flat lays of food have also spurred on this trend. Get creative with your party food ideas; how about have a food truck come to your party. Food trucks have become the new gourmet. You could have an international food truck, donut truck, potato spirals or even just an ice cream truck. Imagine how excited the kids would be to see a food truck pull up your driveway! To contact a food truck pop down to where ever they park up and chat with the owners. In Wellington try your local farmers market or visit WellingtonFoodTrucks for a comprehensive list of trucks. Aucklanders can visit The Street Food Collective in Ponsonby for ‘the best street food pop ups’. Another foodie party idea is getting the kids making the food; set up a taco station, burger station. Make sushi, pizza, crepes. Set up a table so kids can decorate their own cupcakes or biscuits. Little chef parties like those hosted at La Porchetta’s are all the rage. Your little birthday person gets to learn how to prepare and make their own pizza with an instructor. This option is great for busy mum’s.

Social media your party
Another trend that has started in weddings but moving into kids parties is the use of event hashtags and photo booths. This is a fun way to record memories from your party and guests can share their photos from the party. You can set up your own photo booth by pinning a colourful sheet up as a backdrop and adding some playful props that match your theme. Leave a sign out with your parties hashtag. After the party guests, family and friends can browse party photos through the hashtag. This is a great way of documenting and sharing your kids party. You could hire a photo booth as the highlight of your kids party. Auckland company Little Black Photobooth have a special red photo booth just for kids.
