Our ‘gem of a girl’ Rosa turned 7. We had a ‘she’s a gem’ party at home with some of her divine little girlfriends… and her two brothers! Rosa wanted her ears pierced for her birthday. I hadn’t ever thought of an age we would allow this to happen and when she asked we decided it was her time to have them done. Rosa’s birthstone is amethyst so we went with an amethyst inspired colour scheme for her party and with her new gemstone earrings from Trendez we had a party theme that rocked.
‘She’s A Gem’ Party Clothes
Every girl needs to dress accordingly for her party. We chose an emerald green dress for Rosa. We made our own crystal necklace using fabric glue and gemstones. The crystal tattoos from Ducky Street were so beautiful and the kids loved the face gem stones. Rosa’s party guests came in an array of gemstone inspired colours. All blinged up for a rocking good gem party.
Gem Party Invitations
We found these gorgeous invitations on Etsy from the shop Wow Wow Meow. Rosa blinged them up with some stick on gemstones.
Gem Party Food
Our dessert table was full of crystal and gem inspired sweet treats. The highlight of this was the crystal grazing table featuring amazing edible crystals we made from agar agar. Our full instructions for making edible crystals is on the blog. The other highlights were our jelly cups and the gem cookies, which were custom made by Karen from Karen’s Sugar Garden. Don’t worry the guests balanced out all that sugar with some homemade pizza. You can read more about how we created all our sweet treats on the blog.
Gem Party Decorations
Rosa and I love making things. Our birthday parties are always a time for us to get creative. Rosa helped to make many of the party decorations. We made the hanging diamonds with paper straws, wire and a glue gun. The gold piñata Rosa made with our friend Danni using cardboard and gold crepe paper. The hanging circles were made using our circle cutter and a needle and thread. We even made our own crystals using Epsom salts.
She’s a Gem Birthday Cake
‘Daddy Cake Baker’ made Rosa’s simple white cake. We added sugar crystal sticks and edible crystal shards to the top. A ‘She’s a Gem cake topper from Oh Craft finished off the cake perfectly.
Gem Party Fun
The kid’s had a wonderful time with craft, swimming and crystal slime making. We made diamond string art, which was a great party keepsake for the guests to take home. Rosa helped make the string boards by painting them and nailing in the tacks. The girls also made crystal bead necklaces. The swimming pool and spa got well used and the piñata created some laughs. All the guests got ‘blinged up’ with crystal tattoos and face gems.
Gem Party Favors
The girls all took home a little bag of gem stones with cards describing the stones special qualities.
They also took home the necklaces and string art they created. Some took home the crystal slime we made despite it being a ‘slime making fail’! We also had lots of other little goodies like some fun ‘diamond’ rings and lolly jewellery that went home in gold diamond favor boxes.
