This fun Mermaid party was styled and hosted by Auckland mum Melissa for her daughter Scarlett. Melissa and Scarlett embraced all things sparkly and girly for this fabulous birthday celebration. A watery teal, purple and silver colour scheme looked stunning with the adorning balloon garland. I love all the ‘Party Fun’ the girls had. Make sure you check out the homemade cake!
Melissa and Scarlett found lots of party inspiration on Pinterest. All the party decorations are from Melissa’s business Playful Party Hire. Melissa also made the balloon garland. Her first time making one and it looks fab.
Melissa said, “I like to stick to simple healthy party food these days with a few treats thrown in. However, I really go to town on the cake! It’s all about the cake with my lot! I brought a sprinkle medley from Kiwi Cakes, they are the best. This was the first drip cake I have made. The “sea glass” shards I am especially proud of and think they really make the cake!” I totally agree with Melissa about the party food and cake. I find kid’s don’t actually need much food…. a piece of cake is enough otherwise the cake doesn’t even get eaten!
The girls had fun making bracelets and mermaid magic sand bottles. The sand is from Playful Party Hire. They also had the party favourite, Pass the Parcel with gel pens for the prize. A treasure hunt with chocolate coins and then they finished off with a limbo. Sounds like fun!
I am in awe of Melissa making this cake. So many talents! Party styling, cake making and a photographer! Melissa shared, ‘the cake was a vegan chocolate cake but so yummy! I sprayed the Guylian Sea Shells silver and made the sea horses from a mould in advance. I always bake the cake a couple of days in advance, ice it two nights before the party and then the night before I only have the decorating to do!’ You can find Melissa’s cake recipe here. The perfect birthday cake for children with egg and/or dairy allergies.
The girls got to take home their party creations, the bracelets and mermaid magic sand bottle. They also popped in their party bags chocolate coins, mermaid stickers and the gel pens from Pass the Parcel. Happy girls I imagine!
Thanks so much for sharing your party Melissa and Scarlett. It looks like it was lots of fun. I especially love your bracelets and Mermaid Sand Bottles.
