Our Tommy turned six at the end of April and with New Zealand’s Covid-19 lockdown we couldn’t have a party with Tommy’s friends. We decided to have a little fun with a Covid-19 colour scheme and ‘Lockdown’ theme. I’d seen cool ‘Quarantine’ digital download printables at Print and Party. Our lovely neighbours helped out with some contactless printing and the party prep began. Daddy baked an awesome number 6 cake and we crafted some party hats. We found some streamers and balloons in our left over party bits and while doing our groceries at Countdown we discovered a few extra party items. We organised Tommy’s classmates to attend a ‘Zoom’ meeting to say hi to Tommy and join us to sing Happy Birthday.
Tommy asked for a watch and a blue umbrella for his birthday. We could only shop for essential items so his watch is on hold for now but luckily we found the perfect blue umbrella at Countdown. Tommy requested Cheezels and Twisties to be on his party menu so we made sure he had a good supply of these. Tommy’s dimples shone and together as a family (and with some virtual friends) we celebrated this historic birthday.
Happy 6th Birthday to our gorgeous Tommy. One for the history books! It was fun celebrating with you in our family bubble. Pass the Parcel, musical chairs and scavenger hunts all the more fun with us together at home. Thanks to our amazing Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern New Zealanders might be able to hug, hongi and kiss our extended family and friends soon. For now we will enjoy this time together in our own little family bubble.
Tommy I loved how you were happy and enthusiastic about your party and content with your blue umbrella.
