‘Where the Wild Things Are’ Party

I’ve always ‘had a thing’ for the children’s author Maurice Sendak. I remember choosing him for an assignment when I was at Teachers Training College. There is something about the ‘wild rumpus’, ‘king of all kings’ and not to forget nudey Mickey in the ‘Night Kitchen’. Maurice Sendak passed away in 2012 leaving us with fabulous books like Where the Wild Things Are and In the Night Kitchen. He also leaves us with a beautiful quote from one of his last interviews; “I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more.” Another great quote from Sendak and the Wild Things is, ‘I’ll eat you up I love you so,” and when I saw this awesome party from Christchurch mum Jen I wanted to eat it up I loved it so!

Bunny Rabbit Party

This post is as much about my precious Little Fella’s Second Birthday as it is about sharing the significant events that happened the time of his special party. Two days after Tommy’s party I ended up in hospital being diagnosed with Churg-Strauss Syndrome.

Confetti and Sprinkles Party

I have a little girl who sparkles wherever she goes. She adores being in the kitchen baking, and then eating delicious treats. She loves rainbows, sprinkles and fruit. This party is so perfect for my gorgeous girl. I loved planning and preparing this party for her.

Police Party

Big Brother’s Sixth Birthday should have been a ‘non-party’ year for him seeing how last year he had a big Ninja Turtle celebration turning five. However, I have since started this kids party website… least I say more!

Ninja Turtle Party

When Big Brother celebrated his fifth birthday there was only one type of party he was going to have… Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. With a lot of fun and planning together, Big Brother had a party even Shredder would have wanted an invite to. Cowabunga dude!

Halloween Party

Children love dressing up and ‘scary’ things so Halloween appeals to kids. Halloween is celebrated on the 31st October. Trick-or-treating, costumes, Jack-o-Lantern, bonfires, apple bobbing, haunted houses and halloween parties are becoming more and more popular in New Zealand. If you needed a reason to throw a party in October then Halloween could be your answer! Perhaps your October birthday child would love a Halloween themed party! That’s just what Renata did for her 6 year old Daniel.

Very Hungry Caterpillar Party

Angela made a fabulous job of her little boys first birthday by using one of his favourite books as inspiration. Angela has a real eye for putting together party details. She has come up with gorgeous themed elements for Ryder’s birthday. I love how she has sourced a few key items to pull the whole party together and create a fabulous look. Check out how Angela has used some Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric to create some party centre pieces.

Jungle Disco Party

What fun and enthusiastic parents Danielle and Mikey are? They created a jungle dance party for their gorgeous girl Audrey. A fitting party from my old London friends. Danni said the party was Audrey’s request after a year of talking about what she wanted for her 5th birthday party. No pink damsels here. I love how the whole family transform their home into a jungle disco complete with UV lighting and fluroscent paper.

Fairy Party

A fairy party would have to be many girls dream come true! When gorgeous Mae celebrated her 5th birthday her clever and creative mum Becky put together a beautiful party for her little fairy Mae. You can read more about Becky’s creative ventures with her children at her blog Whimsy. Enjoy stepping into this fairy party wonderland.

Pink and Green Party

To celebrate my little Rosebuds 1st Birthday, we had a pink and green garden party at home. Big Brother’s birthday is the next day so we decided to have a joint party. It was a beautiful day for a garden party, the sun shone, bubbles floated in the air, gorgeous bunting fluttered, the kids played, the adults relaxed and all was well in the world.
