A fairy party would have to be many girls dream come true! When gorgeous Mae celebrated her 5th birthday her clever and creative mum Becky put together a beautiful party for her little fairy Mae. You can read more about Becky’s creative ventures with her children at her blog Whimsy. Enjoy stepping into this fairy party wonderland.
Invitation: Mae’s beautiful invitation was made by mum Becky using the online photo editor PicMonkey. She then had the invitations printed through Vistaprint. I’m sure Mae loved being made into a fairy for her invitations.
Venue: The venue for the party was the cute Abberley Park Christchurch City Council Hall. The council charges about $28 per hour for the hire of the hall. It is a great size for a children’s party. It has a small kitchen with zip and oven as well as children’s tables and chairs to use and some larger trestle tables. Set in the leafy Abberley Park with playground, stream and beautiful big trees. A perfect fairy setting.
Decorations: Becky decorated the hall with some pretty paper bunting she made in colours coordinating with her tablecloths, napkins, plates and balloons. She made a colourful wire 5 wrapped in cotton and displayed this by a vase which colour coordinated with her colour theme. She also had a lovely fairy and toadstool ornament along with Mae’s name centred above the food table. A fabulous way to decorate a venue away from home.
Party food: Loving the fairy food. Wands, toadstools, fairy bread, mini cupcakes and bird’s nests. Becky said she kept the food simple however it is themed beautifully. The gorgeous strawberry toadstools would have been a favourite with the children and looked so cute. Love the fairy wands made simply with bread sticks dipped in Nutella and then covered with sprinkles. A great food item the kids would love helping to prepare.
Cake: Mae’s birthday cake was a divine pink ombre cake with each layer becoming a shade darker. Becky made and decorated the cake. She found the cute cake decorations on Trade Me. She finished the cake off with a laminated picture of her fairy Mae for a topper. Didn’t I say Becky was clever and creative!
Party games: The party activities were perfect for little fairies to enjoy. All the children made a fairy garland to wear by threading beads onto long pipe cleaners and tying a ribbon at the back. I think this is a fabulous activity that the children would manage independently and enjoy completing. They would love being able to wear their garlands and taking them home for future dress ups. Becky made the most beautiful pink flower piñata that looked gorgeous hanging in the trees outside. To make the piñata she used paper mache on a round balloon, painted it pink and then covered it in pink paper placemats to resemble a closed flower.
Favors: For party favors the children all took home a silver fairy wand decorated with a pink ribbon and bag of lollies sealed with a mini wooden toadstool peg which Becky found at a 123 Mart.
Such a gorgeous party filled with love. You can tell Becky loves creating fabulous memories for her children. Thank you Mae and Becky for sharing your party with us.
